About Powerhouse Dynamics

Powerhouse Dynamics was founded in 2008 by Nielsen Van Duijn, an architect, and Carsten Steenberg, a technology executive, in part to address some real-world needs of a planned renewable energy-based community.  The founders and current management team are passionate about the need to address the energy and climate challenges facing the world, and believe in the “3P” approach to corporate management: People, Profits and Planet.

With this in mind, we are focused on building a company that can help drive energy efficiency and spread the adoption of renewable energy and alternative fuel vehicles, while providing people with comfort, convenience, security and savings.
We are continuing to add to our team with individuals who share this vision and are committed to delivering state-of-the art technology solutions that achieve it.

Most recently, he was co-founder and President of Nexus Energy Software, a pioneer in delivering on-line energy and carbon analysis to consumers and businesses. Nexus — sold to ESCO Technologies (NYSE:ESE) in 2005 and now part of Aclara Technologies — evolved into a global provider of software solutions to the utility industry focusing on smart grid, smart meter, energy efficiency and demand-response. Martin was CEO of software companies Multisystems, Inc. and REALink SystemsCorp. and ran an energy software unit of TASC. that later became Lodestar Corp., since acquired by Oracle. He has also served on the faculty of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at MIT. Martin has an MSCE from MIT and a BEE from City University of New York.

Through his most recent company, New England Media Partners where he was founder, Publisher and Editor, he was introduced to green technologies for the home. At the highly successful LowerMmybills.com, where he was co-founder and VP of Business Development, he spearheaded functionality to help consumers find ways to lower their energy bills. Dan has a BA degree from Antioch College.

Carsten has had extensive experience in a range of technologies and a variety of different business roles. He headed up the US operations for 2 Danish companies: I-Data, which develops network communications technology, and Phase One, which is involved in digital photography. He is also an expert on Cold Fusion technology, and served as President of Alternative Power Generation, a developer of renewable energy. Carsten has an MBA and BS from Copenhagen Business School.

Before joining Powerhouse dynamics, Ben helped form several startup companies, including Virtual Broadband Technology which provided Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions to the SMB market, and UtilityVu, which developed unique technology for unobtrusively measuring power for smart grid/home area network solutions. He was a co-founder of blade and virtualization pioneer Egenera, where he was responsible for Hardware Development and Architecture as well as Manufacturing.
